Pangana Fort
Pangana Fort: A Historical Fort in Suket
The historical Pangana Fort was built around 1211 AD by Vir Sen, the ruler of the former Suket Riyasat. It served as the first capital of the Sen dynasty before the capital moved to what is now known as Sundernagar. The fort is celebrated for its unique architecture and intricate wooden carvings.
Pangana Fort is a striking tower-like structure that stands on a fifty-foot stone platform, overlooking the charming village below. This seven-storeyed fort draws visitors with its old-world charm and grandeur. Today, it showcases typical Kath-Kuni architecture, with the top floor housing a temple dedicated to the powerful deity Mata Mahamaya.
Access to the fort is limited; only the priests enter its interior. The ground floor entrance has been transformed into a temple for Mata Mahamaya, making it a place of worship and reverence for those who visit.
